CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Frustrated Ohio hospital leaders have complained to the state that shipments of the H1N1 flu vaccine aren't reaching them.
Hospital leaders have called Gov. Ted Strickland and criticized the Ohio Department of Health for poor planning. Some Cleveland-area Walgreens stores are offering the vaccine, while the Cleveland Clinic has yet to receive its first shipment. It has had to borrow 1,500 doses from its regional hospitals.
Hospitals say they should be the top priority because of the high number of health care workers and patients with high risk of flu complications.
Health department spokesman Robert Jennings said the vaccine was incorrectly sent to Walgreens stores. He also said officials met Friday with the Ohio Hospital Association to work out glitches in the distribution process.
