GROVE CITY, Ohio -- Police are investigating a robbery and shooting -- that ended in the shooting of the robbery suspect at the hand of the victim.
At about 11 a.m., Grove City police received a 911 call from a man who had been robbed in the 3400 block of Broadway at a Wendy's location.
Police said the victim said a man approached him with a gun and demanded money.
The victim surrendered his wallet, but pulled out a firearm and fired at the suspect.
The victim told police he thought a bullet struck the suspect because he fell into the street, got up and ran away.
A short time later, a call was received from a resident in the village of Urbancrest, near Grove City, about a person who was outside bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound.
Police investigated and determined that the bleeding man was the suspect in the robbery.
Emergency crews transported the suspect to Grant Medical Center.
Police said the 911 caller from Urbancrest took the suspect's clothes, robbery victim's wallet and firearm used in the robbery and hid them inside their home.
Police obtained a search warrant for the home, found the items inside and arrested the resident on charges of tampering with evidence.
The robbery victim has a concealed carry permit in Florida and Ohio -- and was legally in possession of the firearm.
No charges have been filed at this time.
