Robbers Take $11,000 In Ohio Poker Game Heist

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Police in Cleveland say robbers with assault rifles held up a high-stakes poker game at an apartment and made off with more than $11,000.

A police report says the two suspects got in Monday after one of the seven players went out to smoke and was confronted by the robbers.

Police say the suspects took the card players' money and wallets, made them take off their pants and sprayed them with pepper spray before fleeing.

The game had been listed on a poker Web site.

Private card games are allowed under Ohio law, provided the host doesn't charge a fee or take a cut of the winnings.

The holdup comes six months after a $75,000 heist from a card game in suburban Solon. One of the players from that game also was in the apartment Monday.
