COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A vacant apartment building caught fire early Thursday morning, and CFD continued to investigate the cause.

Columbus fire was dispatched to a two-story apartment building at Smith and Lockborne roads at about 2:40 a.m. That’s on the city’s South Side
Firefighters found heavy fire in two bottom-floor apartments.
The flames quickly spread throughout the structure, and a second alarm was called.
About 95 firefighters responded to the scene and fought the flames for about two hours.
Initial reports indicated a person was trapped in the burning building.
No victims were found, and there weren’t any reported injuries, CFD said.
The building is a vacant structure but might have been occupied by numerous vagrants, according to Columbus fire.
Confirmed from chief whiting-----in april of 2008 a woman (squatter) DIED at this same location in a fire.
CFD Battalion Chief David Whiting said a female died in a fire at the same address in April 2008.
CFD estimated the damage at $200,000.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
