PERRY COUNTY, Ohio – The Lancaster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle-versus-dump-truck crash that occurred on Friday morning on U.S. Route 22 and Wesley Chapel Road in Perry County.
Reports say just before 11 a.m., 31-year-old Jason Springer of Pataskala was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson with his passenger, 30-year-old Lisa Evans of Canal Winchester, eastbound on U.S. 22, attempting to turn left onto Wesley Chapel Road.
A dump truck that was driven by 48-year-old Kenneth Nichols of Newark attempted to pass the motorcycle on the left and struck the motorcycle, ejecting both driver and passenger, according to authorities.
Springer was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries.
Evans was transported to Grant Medical Center by Med-Flight where she was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
Nichols was not injured as a result of the crash.
Neither Springer or Evans was wearing helmets at the time of the crash, according to authorities.
No more immediate information was available.
