COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A new TV deal brings together the Columbus Zoo's best-known human and its stars from the animal world.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has agreed to sponsor "Jack Hanna's Into the Wild," the Emmy-winning, syndicated kids' show hosted by the Columbus celebrity zookeeper. Hanna says the arrangement will allow him to give the zoo wide exposure by featuring its animals, staffers and programs during a portion of each episode.
Hanna's TV shows were previously sponsored by the Busch Gardens theme parks in Florida and Virginia.
The zoo will pay $1 million per year, which Hanna says is much less than Busch Gardens paid.
Zoo spokeswoman Patty Peters says the money will come from corporate sponsors, donations and interest on the zoo's endowment fund.
