Former Arizona Soldier Gets 5-Year Prison Sentence

»  Comments | Post a Comment

TUCSON, Ariz.
A former Army soldier once stationed in southern Arizona was sentenced Wednesday to five years in federal prison for violating his probation.

Prosecutors say 28-year-old Glenn Bernard Smith II admitted on May 13 that he violated his probation by failing to report his contact last Oct. 25 with police in his hometown of Elyria, Ohio, to his federal probation officer.

While assigned to the Army base at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., authorities say Smith was sentenced to five years of probation in November 2006 after being convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

While serving his supervised probation in Ohio, authorities say Smith was to report any contact with law enforcement as one of the conditions imposed by the federal court.

The details of Smith's contact with Elyria police was not disclosed.
