COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The gambling issue in the state of Ohio has taken another turn: The Ohio Christian Alliance has filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court.
NBC 4’s Marcus Thorpe reported with the FAST FACTS.
The lawsuit focuses on Governor Ted Strickland and the Ohio Lottery Commission for what is being called "the unconstitutional expansion of gambling at seven Ohio racetracks.
The suit claims the Ohio legislature, along with Strickland, violated the Ohio constitution.
The alliance said there was a gold rush of sorts to push the issue through, which didn’t give anyone time to read the 3,000-plus page bill before it was voted on.
In July, NBC 4 told you about a similar push from LetOhioVote.org.
Reverend John Edgar talked to NBC 4 and said those for the gambling machines manipulated language in a way that violates the constitution.
There will be a press conference at 2 p.m. Monday.
After the press conference, the alliance was set to speak out and challenge the slots issue.
