COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State University administrators want every student to get the seasonal flu vaccine as well as the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
OSU has received its doses of seasonal flu shots and has already begun vaccinations.
Some students are already moving into residence halls, even though official move-in day isn't until Sunday.
Freshman Kelsey Vick moved into Taylor Tower Monday.
She says she received an e-mail from OSU detailing the university's plan.
Vick says she's already aware of precautions such as washing her hands frequently and covering her sneezes and coughs.
She has a friend from Cincinnati who had H1N1 who told her it really isn't a big deal.
"You just feel bad for a while," she says her friend said.
Vick says she would go back home to the Cincinnati area if she were to contract H1N1.
OSU encourages students to pack kits with tissues, flu medication and sanitizer and take them to their residence halls and apartments.
If students become sick, stay home or go home. They should isolate themselves, not go to class or work and have meals delivered to them by a healthy friend.
The dining halls are working with staff to accommodate sick students.
If students have temperatures above 103, they should go to the health center or OSU Medical Center when the health center is closed.
OSU had seven confirmed cases of H1N1 this past Spring.
Administrators expect many more this fall and say communication is key to containing and preventing the spread of the disease.
