STOW, Ohio - Authorities say a home and vehicles on a property in northeast Ohio were packed with 7,000 pounds of fireworks - equal to about 1,750 pounds of high explosives.
The state fire marshal's office says it confiscated the fireworks in the Akron suburb of Stow after investigators received a tip and obtained a search warrant late Tuesday night.
Interim Fire Marshal Donald Cooper says in a statement that the fireworks were extremely dangerous to the residents, neighbors and first responders. He says a spark could have caused tragedy.
Officials say a couple, two children, an elderly adult and a female tenant live in the house. No charges have been filed, but the fire marshal's office is consulting with U.S. authorities about possible federal charges.
