COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A Democratic judge from northeast Ohio is scheduled to announce plans to run for the Ohio Supreme Court in 2010.
Fifty-three-year-old Mary Jane Trapp is expected to say on Wednesday that she will seek to unseat Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger, first elected to the court in 2004. Trapp has spent more than 25 years in civil and criminal trial and appellate practice in federal courts in Ohio and Pennsylvania and in Ohio courts at all levels.
She was elected to the Ohio Court of Appeals in 2006 and currently serves as 11th District presiding/administrative judge. She also has been a visiting judge on the Ohio Supreme Court. Trapp was admitted to the bar in 1981 after graduating from the law school at Case Western Reserve University.
