MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The U.S. Postal Service says a carrier has been shot while delivering mail in a city outside Cleveland.
Postal Service spokesman Victor Dubina says the carrier had just begun the route in Maple Heights sometime Thursday morning when the shooting took place.
He says the carrier was taken to a hospital.
No further information was available pending notification of the carrier's family.
Messages seeking comment were left at the chief's office and detective bureau of the Maple Heights police department.
Maple Heights is about eight miles southeast of Cleveland.
