CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Someone is stealing marble angels from the graves of babies in Circleville.
Six have been stolen so far this year.
The graves are mostly decades old.
The latest grave was from an 8-month old who died in 1937.
The thefts have people at Forest Cemetery in Circleville very upset.
Marty Garner, caretaker of the cemetery tells NBC4’s Mike Bowersock, “It’s a shame, we take a lot of pride in this place and anything missing, we miss it."
The latest marble angel was stolen this week, and since the statues are so old, it is hard to place a value on them, however, they were all cut by hand out of imported marble.
The Forest Cemetery is the final resting place for 20,000 people, 7,000 more than the population of Circleville.
