URBANA, Ohio -- Investigators say they cannot determine the cause of a trailer fire that killed four children in western Ohio and have closed the case.
The Champaign County sheriff and prosecutor announced their findings Wednesday. Officials say the fire in the western Ohio village of St. Paris may have been caused by electrical wiring or an electric heater. But an engineering firm brought in to assist the investigation was unable to definitively determine the cause.
Prosecutor Nick Selvaggio says there is no evidence that the fire was intentionally set. Killed in the fire were 2-year-old Nathan Skaggs, 8-year-old Patrick Snelling, 10-year-old Breonna Snelling and 10-year-old Cassandra Karg.
