HAMILTON, Ohio -- A lawyer says child pornography charges will likely be dropped against a southwest Ohio pediatrician who still faces trial next month on more than 40 sex and drug offenses.
Dr. Mark Blankenburg and his twin, R. Scott Blankenburg, also a pediatrician in the Hamilton area, face multiple charges alleging sexual abuse and bribery of patients
The 53-year-old Mark Blankenburg is scheduled for an Oct. 5 trial. Butler County Common Pleas Judge Keith Spaeth on Thursday separated the pornography charges from other counts.
Defense lawyer Mike Shanks says he believes the child pornography charges won't make it to a trial. He says documentation shows that nine of 10 photographs are of men 18 or older.
Prosecutors have questioned whether the documentation is strong enough to stand up in court.
