CINCINNATI, Ohio -- A Cincinnati police officer has been taken to a hospital for examination after something hit his bulletproof vest in a gunfire exchange with a man police wanted to question.
Police say the officer complained of redness, soreness and swelling. Police say it's not clear what hit his vest when shots rang out after two officers tried to stop a man early Monday morning. They say it could have been a bullet or shrapnel. The man's name wasn't released immediately.
Police say they wanted to question him about recent thefts in the area. They said he refused to stop, fired shots, and then ran away. They don't believe he was hit by police fire.
