AKRON, Ohio -- An Ohio woman is scared to use her own bathroom because sewer rats are tunneling out of her toilet.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS from NBC Newschannel.
Barb Burns came home two weeks ago and found her two dogs playing tug-of-war with a rat.
Burns found another rat trapped under a kitchen cabinet three days later.
An exterminator checked the entire house and ruled out all methods of entry and exit, which left the toilet.
Burns taped shut her toilet.
"It's not a very good feeling when you think a rat could be coming up your toilet," Burns said.
Burns said she complained to the Akron Health Department but nothing has been done to fix the problem.
A health department spokesperson said crews were going to bait the sewers in an attempt to destroy the rats by the end of the week.
Burns said her toilet would remain taped shut until she gets the OK.
