A police cruiser's dashboard camera captured the Monday morning crash on Interstate 675 near Dayton.
The video shows a 1985 Pontiac Firebird passing by in the median, striking a culvert on the ground and then being launched into the air. The car slams into the overpass, turning into a shower of parts.
Troopers said Eden was ejected onto a highway shoulder but was alert and conscious after the crash. Eden was transported in critical condition.
About an hour before the crash, Eden of Mason, Ohio, was arrested by Beavercreek police for prohibition, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse after officers found him in his vehicle in a parking lot with a juvenile female.
That was at about 6:13 a.m. Monday.
Eden allegedly was in possession of an unopened can of alcohol, a trace of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Eden was cited for his violations and was released.
Officers did not believe Eden to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.
He was released prior to 6:45 a.m. The juvenile female was arrested for prohibition and was released to her father.
Eden crashed his car at approximately 7:15 a.m.
State troopers said Eden's out-of-control car "disintegrated into many pieces" when it went airborne and smashed into a highway overpass pillar.
Investigators still are trying to determine how fast the car was going at the time of the crash.
