Ohioan 1 Of 2 Officers Fatally Shot In Alaska Village

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A SWAT team and dozens of other law officers have surrounded a house in a tiny Alaskan village where a gunman took refuge after he allegedly killed two local lawmen.

Authorities say Hoonah police officers Tony Wallace and Matt Tokuoka died after the shooting late Saturday.

Wallace was a 1997 graduate of Franklin High School in southwest Ohio and attended the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The school says he was one of the few hard-of-hearing officers in the nation.

Forty-five-year-old suspect John Marvin Jr. barricaded himself in his home. Alaska State Troopers and other law enforcement agencies have maintained their positions at the scene.
