FREMONT, Ohio -- A minister has told mourners that three Ohio boys who fell through ice and died together in a river are now playing together in heaven.
A single funeral was held over the weekend for the 7- and 8-year-old brothers and their 10-year-old friend who died Jan. 24 in the Sandusky River in north-central Ohio. Stuffed animals and footballs lay with the bodies in the caskets at Victory Christian Fellowship Church in Fremont.
As family members sobbed during Saturday's service, Rev. Dee Whaley of Victory Christian Fellowship Church in Fremont said the death of a child is the hardest thing that can happen to a parent. She said prayer and support would help the families get through their grief.
Later, at a cemetery, the boys were buried beside one another.
