PIKE COUNTY, Ohio -- A traffic stop led to an arrest on drug possession and resisting arrest charges last weekend.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday when troopers stopped a vehicle on U.S. 23 in Pike County for marked lanes violations.
Officials said a passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Randy A. Myers, was observed making furtive movements and was requested to exit the vehicle.
While being placed into investigative custody, Myers attempted to flee and continued to resist being arrested, troopers said.
A brief struggle ensued and a trooper deployed his Taser, striking Myers. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
A search of Myers revealed oxycodone and hydrocodone pills. He was transported to the Pike County Hospital and treated and released for a cut on his head.
He was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession and resisting arrest before being incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail.
