Even though we will feel a bit of mist or a few flakes of snow tonight, problems on the roads will be minor compared to this morning’s snow.
Spell of nice afternoons will continue with highs 35 to 40 the next two days. We have reached 43 today so far.
No weather problems through Thursday.
Sun is starting to feel warm to the skin, birds are singing, crocus are inching up.
Another southern storm is set to come through the southeast USA again the end of this week.
This time it looks to be a bit farther north and should bring messy weather to at least the southeast half of the state.
I am guessing there will be just enough warmth above us to mix with rain or even change to rain in the afternoon Friday but cold enough for several inches of snow Friday night into Saturday.
It is never cut and dried with these things, though:
We consider temperatures on the ground and in the clouds, and a half of a degree difference changes it from snow to something else.
There will be a coastal low forming, and when that happens moisture will be cut off to the low giving us a wintry mix and timing that is really hard.
How much leftover moisture when colder, drier air filters in is another component.
Time of day also works into the mix in February – better snow chances at night than in the day with this one.
