COLUMBUS, Ohio -- News of coach Ken Hitchcock's departure Wednesday was just the latest reminder for the Arena District that the Blue Jackets are having a bad season and nothing about the team is certain.
"It is necessary to keep the team here" said Natalie Darr, co-owner of the R Bar, the unofficial hockey bar in Columbus. "We're the hockey bar, and it's pretty essential to have a hockey team to support."
All indications, however, are that the Jackets are staying.
"It is certainly my belief it's here to stay" says General Manager Scott Howson.
There have been indications, however, that a move would not, one day, be out of the question.
The Blue Jackets feel they have a bad lease with Nationwide Arena.
There is a loss of fan support this year because of so many losses.
Other cities have shown an interest in taking the Blue Jackets.
Thursday night there will be a rally in the Arena District for the Jackets, and petitions will be available for them to stay, even though at this point, they're not leaving.
