LICKING COUNTY, Ohio -- A female driver was killed in a two-vehicle, head-on crash that closed a portion of state Route 37/161 in Licking County Friday morning.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in the area of S.R. 37/S.R. 161 and Raccoon Valley Road at about 6:09 a.m. That's directly in front of the Raccoon Valley Golf Course.
Authorities closed a portion of S.R. 37/161 in both directions between Raccoon Valley Road and state Route 310.
Northbound and southbound lanes were closed. Drivers were detoured to state Route 16 westbound.
A commercial vehicle and a passenger sedan were involved in the crash.
The on-scene fire chief said a female driver was traveling eastbound on S.R. 37/161, and a commercial vehicle was traveling westbound.
One of the vehicles crossed the center median and they crashed head-on, but the vehicle that crossed the median couldn't be determined immediately, the chief said.
The female driver was killed in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
About 75 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into a drainage ditch. Hazmat crews and the EPA were called to the scene.
Authorities reopened the road to traffic at about 10:30 a.m.
