HILLIARD, Ohio -- Two male teens have been transported to a local hospital Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking to school.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

The boys were walking in the 3800 block of Main Street in Hilliard, near the cross of Cemetery and Scioto Darby roads at about 8 a.m. when they were struck by a vehicle.

The incident happened in front of the Donatos Pizza at 3817 Main St.

One of the boys is approximately 14 years old; the other is approximately 15 years old.

The boys were transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital with minor head injuries and bruises.

Authorities were called to the scene to investigate.

There was dense fog in the area during the time when they were hit. There is no word on whether charges will be filed.

Additional information was not available immediately.

NBC 4 is waiting on information from Hilliard police.

The crash comes just two weeks after plans for a roundabout were announced for that busy stretch of roadway.

There is nothing new about roundabouts in Hilliard. They already have five in the city.

It's the locations of the new roundabouts that have some people upset.

Two new roundabouts are being planned -- one at the corner of Scioto Darby and Main and the other Cemetery and Main next to Hilliard Station School.

City officials said safety is the number one priority -- so much so that they will be installing new crosswalks that are more visible, new signage for all crosswalks, flashing overhead lighting and school zones will be extended east and south to enforce the speed.

Even with the precautions, some residents are still debating the roundabouts.

"It's going to mess up traffic a little bit. I think a lot of people avoid those things. A lot of older people that do too … come in here. They say we can do without them," said Allen Adkins, an area business owner.

NBC 4 originally reported the Hilliard United Methodist Church is suing the city to stop the roundabout from being built. That information was incorrect.

The project is scheduled to start in the spring.
