MORROW COUNTY, Ohio -- I-71 southbound in Morrow County is now reopened after being closed for what officials called numerous crashes due to road conditions.
According to officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crashes occurred around 2 p.m. Monday.
I-71 south in Morrow County at state Route 61 was shut down Monday afternoon because of a crash.
NBC 4 mistakenly reported the roadway was reopened to traffic at about 7 p.m. That was incorrect. According to OSP, one lane of southbound traffic reopened at about 9 p.m.
There were no lane closures or restrictions to I-71 north in Morrow County.
Around the same time, there were several crashes reported at I-71 south in Delaware County between S.R. 61 and the U.S. Route 36 and state Route 37 exit, but I-71 south in Delaware County was not shutdown.
Officials urged motorists to stay off the roads or use S.R. 61 as an alternate route.
Officials were unable to say how many crashes were involved.
Minor injuries were reported in some of the crashes. Emergency crews were called to the scene.
