Falling Icicle Kills Worker In West Virginia

FOLLANSBEE, W.Va. - A West Virginia worker has been killed by a falling icicle.

Severstal Wheeling spokeswoman Bette Kovac said 54-year-old Frederic Wizba of Wheeling died Saturday as he walked by a coal conveyor system at the Mountain State Carbon coke plant in Follansbee.

Wizba was a raw material supervisor and had been employed with the company since 1986.

Kovac said the United Steelworkers of America is investigating the accident.

The West Virginia Occupational Health and Safety Administration also has been notified.
