MERCER, Pa. -- An Ohio man will spend three to 23 months in jail for mailing himself more than two pounds of marijuana at the address of an ex-girlfriend in western Pennsylvania.
Thirty-three-year-old Jayson White, of Youngstown, Ohio, apologized to his wife and children -- and the woman to whose home he mailed the drugs -- when he was sentenced by a Mercer County judge on Friday.
White told police he bought the pot while visiting a friend in Texas and mailed it to the woman's home in Farrell, just across the Pennsylvania border from Youngstown. Police say White felt it was risky to drive the pot home himself and concerned it would be stolen from his porch in Youngstown if it was delivered there.
Employees detected the drugs at a distribution center and alerted police who arrested White after he picked up the package in January 2009.
