COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A suspect in connection with a recent bank robbery has been arrested.
At approximately 10:46 a.m. on February 20, a man with significant facial bruising entered the Chase Bank at 1698 N. High Street. He was observed to have written a robbery note on a stand inside the lobby.
The man then approached a teller and passed the note stating he was robbing the bank and "people would die" if he didn’t get money. The man also claimed to have a gun and was in a hurry, although no weapon was shown. The robber took the money and fled the bank.
According to the FBI, Michael T. Mangan, 30, was arrested by another law enforcement agency on an unrelated charge.
Arresting officers said they thought Mangan fit the Chase Bank robbery suspect's description and contacted the Columbus police robbery squad.
An investigation by Columbus police led to Mangan being charged with the bank robbery.
