COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Crime has unfortunately become a way of life for some South Side Columbus neighbors.
Barbara Armstrong ministers at a small church on Linwood Avenue, but recently a devilish thing happened.
"I saw two blocks here and knew something was wrong. I noticed it instantly," Armstrong said.
Someone had destroyed her air conditioning unit -- all to get the copper wiring.
"How can you come to a church, steal from a church, a house of God?"
Katie Radford said she's been a target.
"Things disappeared from my front porch. Door has been egged. Called every name in the book," she said.
As the city works through the feasibility of cameras for a pilot program in some neighborhoods, Armstrong said this area can't do without some help.
Cameras are already in place at area recreation centers, and a Columbus city council spokesperson said a hearing devoted solely to this issue could be held in council chambers in the coming months.
In the meantime community members said they have to stand up and fight back against crime.
"I'm not afraid of them and will not be afraid take participation and when they see something, call police," Radford said.
