WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Police responding to a burglar alarm at a Westerville strip mall did not find any burglars. They did find a section of concrete block wall at the rear of a Big Lots store collapsed.
Officials notified the owner and building inspectors who were expected to determine the structural integrity of the building.
It is part of a strip mall containing about 10 connected businesses.
A building manager told NBC 4 that the collapse was caused by a build-up of snow and ice on an awning over the part of the building affected by the collapse.
The Big Lots store will be closed Sunday, but other businesses are not affected and the problems will be easily fixed, according to the spokesman. No one was hurt by the fall of the wall.
The businesses are located at 50 Westerville Square adjacent to Schrock Road.
