CENTRAL OHIO -- Unusually cold air is streaming into Ohio and dropping our early-morning temperatures into the single digits with wind chills well below zero.
Temps won't warm up much this week: Highs in the 20s and lows in the teens. Bundle up!
SUNDAY: mostly sunny in the morning, a few scattered flurries, windy, high 19.
SUNDAY NIGHT: mostly cloudy, windy and cold, low 14.
MONDAY: cold and breezy, snow showers, accumulations up to 1", high 25.
TUESDAY: mostly cloudy, scattered flurries, high 26.
WEDNESDAY: partly cloudy, cold, high 27.
THURSDAY: turning overcast, flurries and snow showers, high 24.
FRIDAY: snow, snow showers and flurries, high 23.
SATURDAY: partly cloudy, still cold, high 20.
It's just nasty outside. The temperatures are WAY below average and the wind chills are brutal.
If you must be outdoors, make sure everything is well-covered and you're protected from the wind. Frostbite doesn't take long in these temps. And don't leave your pets outside very long either ... even with fur, they get really, really cold.
The jet stream has taken a huge dip into the southern U.S. and is taking the cold air much farther south than usual. We'll be stuck with this pattern for most of the week. By Tuesday, the Polar Jet Stream makes it almost to northern Florida. It's just crazy! Bundle up. Welcome to winter!
Some snow and snow showers are a good bet for Monday, especially in the afternoon and evening. Accumulations could be up to an inch. That will make the commute a little slippery on Tuesday morning.
