COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Severe winter weather is giving some Ohio students an even longer holiday break.
Dozens of districts in northeast Ohio, including many in the region's snow belt, closed schools Monday because of heavy lake-effect snow. The National Weather Service says the day's snowfall will range from a couple of inches in Cleveland to as much of a foot in other areas, and that's on top of up to a foot of snow that came down over the weekend.
Light snow is causing schools to delay their start times in other parts of the state, while the main story in southwest Ohio is the frigid cold. Cincinnati homeless shelters say they're prepared to reach capacity amid the below-freezing temperatures that are in the forecast for all of this week.
