DELAWARE, Ohio – The Delaware County Humane Society hosted an extraordinary night on Friday, the Freeze Out 2010.
Members of the Humane Society put on the event to help raise awareness for the suffering felt by animals that are left outside during the cold, winter weather.
From 8 p.m. on Friday until early Saturday morning, members gathered to live outside without shelter for 10 hours of icy darkness. Throughout the night members learned the importance of properly caring for outside animals so they can spread the word to others.
The Humane Society has set a fund-raising goal of $10,000 to directly benefit animals that have not received proper care or shelter. The money will be used to purchase dog houses, life-saving supplies and fund the emergency services needed to respond to urgent cases of neglect.
Volunteers were on-hand to take drive-up donations. Donations can also be sent to the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 State Route 37 East, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
