CANTON, Ohio - A coroner has provided gripping testimony at the trial of an Ohio man charged with killing his two young children and his former mother-in-law.
Coroner P.S. Murthy in Canton said in court Tuesday that hand wounds suffered by the 3- and 5-year-olds indicated they tried to fight off the attack. The youngsters were strapped in car seats when they were killed last year.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for 36-year-old James Mammone III, who has pleaded not guilty. His trial continues Wednesday.
The jury earlier heard a taped confession by Mammone saying that for nearly two years he wanted to kill ex-wife and her mother.
