COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Seven female high-school students were charged and a school-resource officer used Mace on two Thursday after a fight broke out during an unplanned school evacuation.

A construction crew accidentally set off a fire alarm at South High School at 1160 S. Ann St.
Students evacuated in response to the fire alarm.
Two female students became involved in an altercation once outside.
A school-resource officer used Mace to help stop the altercation between the two students.
Columbus police officers were called to the scene.
Several other female students apparently also were involved in the altercation at one point, according to Columbus police.
Columbus police said they charged seven female students with disorderly conduct.
Other students returned to class without incident.
