CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Officials have identified the origin of a house fire that killed a 3-year-old girl in Chillicothe last weekend.
Fire crews were called to 655 Allen Ave. on reports of a house fire just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to the state fire marshal's office, the fire originated in the home's living room and there was no evidence of the crime of arson during their on-scene investigation.
Isabelle Jade Brock, 3, died as a result of injuries sustained in the fire. Ross County Coroner Dr. John Gabis said preliminary results showed the girl died of smoke inhalation.
Investigators are waiting on autopsy results before a final determination of how the fire started will be made.
The home was equipped with smoke detectors, but authorities said the detectors did not function.
Three Chillicothe firefighters also were injured in the house fire. The injuries reportedly were minor.
