MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va.
The smokestacks at the old Fostoria Glass plant in Moundsville are coming down.
The smokestacks are scheduled to be demolished within the next few weeks. It's part of an ongoing project to convert the site into a retail center that will include a bank, grocery store, restaurants and an artisans center.
Developer Harold Games says the artisans center will help preserve the city's glass making heritage.
Fostoria Glass was known for its dinnerware and hand-blown stemware, The company began operations in Fostoria, Ohio, in 1887 and moved to Moundsville in 1891. The plant closed in 1986.
