MADISON, W.Va.
The West Virginia Department of Education will launch an online textbook pilot project in the fall at Scott
High School in Boone County.
Teachers Joey Wiseman and Cindy Allred will pilot the program. Wiseman teaches civics and AP government and Allred teaches U.S. history.
Students will use laptop computers provided by the state agency.
Wiseman says online textbooks give students a better understanding of the subject matter. He says today's students are
more engaged by electronic resources than printed texts.
Allred says online resources are more up-to-date than printed texts.
Wiseman and Allred also are compiling Web sites that can be used in their classes.
