GAHANNA, Ohio -- Creekside Gahanna and other businesses can expect a strong effort by city leaders to improve business.
The Creekside businesses have struggled to stay open -- especially during the economic downturn.
The Gahanna Chamber of Commerce consulted with a marketing strategist to draft 20 ideas to boost business.
Among the ideas is to limit marketing budgets by using cross-promotions between non-competing businesses and cooperative mailings.
The city already implemented a 15-year tax abatement for the Residences of Creekside to increase business and schedule several events that appeal to adults.
"January is usually, historically, a very sow month for us and we are having a pretty good January," said Bryan Tyler, of the Bread Basket Family Bakery.
"They do a lot for the community and that's great, but it's also important to remember that businesses are people that attract obviously more adult business. So we were looking for them to do more adult-oriented things," said Craig Decker, of The Wine Guy Wine Shop.
The chamber hopes to increase its membership in 2010 -- something it lost in 2009.
