COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A local entertainer will be taking his act on the road.
Comedian and magician Michael Kent will be traveling to South Korea next month to perform several shows for troops stationed throughout the country.
Kent said his show is more than just magic -- he wants his audience to laugh and take part in the show.
He calls it stand-up comedy magic.
"There's a stigma about magic that people sort of understand. And when you say, 'magician', it's interesting. A lot of people have a similar idea in their head of top hat, bunny, cape, cane, the whole thing. So, I sort of make fun of that by breaking the mold and at the same time, it's a funny show," Kent said.
Kent said that during his 13-day tour, he will be performing 11 shows in clubs on military bases.
"I've toured all over America performing my show, but I've never done anything like this," he said. "I'm proud to perform for the men and women serving in our military overseas. The audience is always important. But these audiences will be a little more important."
Kent recently traveled to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla., to entertain the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Navy’s flight demonstration squadron, who share a life on the road.
Last July, the Blue Angels gave Michael a V.I.P. ride in one of their aircraft during an airshow in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
