COLUMBUS, Ohio – A local group is headed to Haiti to set up the first food bank since the devastating earthquake.
Haiti has so many problems right now; it is almost too hard to comprehend. Relief workers are still doing their best to try to help Haitians recover, but Central Ohioans are also doing their part.
Haiti currently has no food banks set up, but a local group is going to be the first.
Star Johnson and the Haitian Coalition to Haiti left from Port Columbus early Sunday morning. Personally, they packed light, but they shipped a ton of food to Haiti already.
American Freight and CSX Freight donated the means in which to ship all of the food.
The coalition has enough food to feed 50 families of five for more than four weeks.
