A local man is arrested Sunday for attempting a kidnapping plot against a former co-worker, detectives say.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS from Columbus police.

Carlton Rotach, 21, was arrested Sunday night after detectives said he negotiated a kidnapping and ransom plot against a former co-worker.

A representative from Ronin Worldwide Executive Protection contacted Columbus police detectives Sunday, saying Rotach asked the company to kidnap and hold a 30-year-old female for ransom.

The woman is a former co-worker of Rotach's.

Detectives and SWAT officers posed as employees from the company and met with Rotach

During that meeting, Rotach solicited the undercover officers to kidnap the woman and to hold her until a ransom was paid, according to a police report.

SWAT officers arrested Rotach without incident.

He was charged with complicity to kidnapping, a first-degree felony.

The victim filed a police report in May 2010, claiming a former co-worker was stalking her at her workplace.

The report listed the business on Corporate Exchange Drive in Columbus.

She said the suspect entered the secured building and then her office. She told him to leave. She said the suspect told her he was there to pick up some paperwork and left the building.

Columbus officers searched the building and the surrounding wooded area, but the suspect was not located. The suspect was not named in the police report.

Rotach also has spent time in jail in Florida on battery charges and felony burglary charges.

Rotach is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Franklin County Municipal Court.
