The cause of a head-on crash that killed two persons in Marion County late in June remains uncertain, according to a report from the highway patrol there.
Toxicology reports from the victims of the crash turned up negative for signs of alcohol in the drivers’ systems.
The crash was June 27, 2010, at state Route 4 and Newmans-Cardington Road in Marion County.
Jacob E. Pfeiffer, 19, of Marion and Sandra K. Haycox, 29, of Richwood were both killed.
The initial investigation showed Pfeiffer crossed left of center and struck Haycox's vehicle.
"It is always puzzling when you don’t know exactly what caused or contributed to a particular crash, but in this case we are now certain that it wasn’t alcohol," Lt. Chuck Jones is quoted as saying in a release from the post.
