Cincinnati Officer In Park Death Had Good Record

» 1 Comment | Post a Comment

City officials and personnel records give good reviews to the veteran Cincinnati police officer authorities say fatally drove over a woman lying in a park.

City parks director Willie Carden says 53-year-old Marty Polk was sensitive to the needs of residents and the parks. Polk's latest police evaluations have been positive overall, with high grades for community partnerships and decision-making.

Records also show he was in a minor traffic accident in 1990 that caused $500 damage.

Forty-eight-year-old Joann Burton was lying under some blankets on a grassy area at midday Tuesday when Polk's cruiser ran over her. She died at a hospital.

As the investigation continues, Polk has been placed on paid leave, customary for officers involved in an on-duty death.
