The Federal Emergency Management Agency has denied Ohio's appeal for aid after tornadoes swept through the northwest part of the state last month.
FEMA spokeswoman Cat Langel said Saturday that the severity and magnitude of the damage did not warrant federal assistance.
Gov. Ted Strickland says he's disappointed and frustrated by FEMA's decision. The governor appealed the Obama administration's decision to deny federal aid earlier this month.
Strickland said state and local resources already are stretched too thin and that the need in the communities hit by the tornadoes could not be greater.
