Concerned that the subject of a warrant might be armed, Columbus police closed off a block of Wedgewood Drive between Eakin and Sullivant for about an hour Saturday before successfully taking the man into custody.
The incident began after neighbors reported a suspicious person, perhaps armed with a knife, in an apartment on Wedgewood Drive between Eakin Road and Sullivant Avenue.
As a precaution, police evacuated neighboring apartment units and closed traffic on the block while attempting to talk to the suspect, whose name has not yet been released.
After an hour, a woman and baby came out of the apartment in question. Minutes later, the suspect was hit with a Taser and arrested. Police tell NBC 4 there were outstanding warrants from Columbus and from Pickaway County for the individual, including an escape warrant.
