COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A Hebron man is sentenced Friday to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to child-pornography charges.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS from United States Attorney Carter M. Stewart.
Brent Camp was sentenced in United States District Court to 96 months imprisonment for possessing more than 4,700 images of child pornography and sharing images over the Internet of a 3- to 4-year old child in sexually explicit poses.
U.S. District Judge Algenon L. Marbley imposed the sentence.
Camp’s sentence includes 10 years of supervised release following his prison term.
Federal law requires 35-year-old Camp, of Hebron, to register as a sex offender wherever he lives, works or attends school.
Camp pleaded guilty Feb. 12, 2010, to one count of possession of child pornography.
A task force officer with the FBI Columbus Cybercrimes Task Force observed a participant in a peer-to-peer file sharing program July 21, 2009.
The participant, who identified himself as "Trixter," was sharing numerous files with titles indicative of child pornography.
The officer downloaded approximately 19 images of suspected child pornography from "Trixter."
The agent traced the computer address to Camp’s house.
Members of the FBI and Licking County sheriff's department executed a search warrant at Camp’s house Oct. 8, 2009, and seized various computer equipment and digital media.
Investigators completed a forensic exam on a desktop computer seized from a bedroom in the house Oct. 9, 2009, and found several thousand images of suspected child pornography, including images of prepubescent minors engaged in sexual acts with adults and other prepubescent children.
In total, there were approximately 4,700 images and several videos of suspected child pornography recovered from the computer’s hard drive.
Camp fled the area Oct, 8, 2009, and an arrest warrant was issued.
He surrendered to Sheriff Thorp’s office Oct. 29, 2009.
After Camp pleaded guilty, Judge Marbley remanded Camp to the custody of the U.S. Marshals, and he’s been in custody since.
