ASHTABULA -- People living in one Ohio community are upset about a decision to suspend snow plowing over the weekend to save money.
Ashtabula Public Services Superintendent Dominic Iarocci says city leaders put a freeze on overtime spending, which meant no plowing from 3 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday.
A storm that began Thursday and continued into the weekend left several inches of snow and ice on the community 53 miles northeast of Cleveland. Resident Dave Bucci says side streets were impassable, and he worried about how ambulances or fire trucks would get through.
Iarocci says he's concerned about safety but also mindful of the city's budget problems. Ashtabula is currently running a $862,000 deficit.
