LONDON, Ky. -- Walmart has settled a discrimination suit in Kentucky.
The retail giant will pay nearly $11.7 million to come to terms with a sex-discrimination lawsuit that contended the company didn't hire women at its London distribution center because of their gender.
Walmart says it will also change its hiring process practices.
The suit was filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2001, saying Walmart hired 18- to 25-year-old men instead of women for warehouse jobs.
Walmart will also fill the next 20 order filler jobs at the warehouse with female hires.
